SEROJA – Electric Boat
Design and Build by HAYATECH
This project is focusing on developing an electric boat for Zone A fisherman in Malaysia. The motivation is to eliminate the usage of petrol which causes our country for more than RM1 billion a year in fuel subsidy and destroys our marine ecosystem.
SEROJA will be initially powered by battery and at some point of time, the electricity will be produced by the hydro turbine system that is attached to the boat. The boat is expected to be cruised at a certain speed powered by the hydro turbine system. To reduce the power dependency of the battery, the boat will use Brushless Direct Current Motor (BLDC) as a main engine and waterjet as a propulsion mechanism to create the thrust.
During idling (BLDC not operating), hydro and wind turbines will generate electricity to charge back the battery. SEROJA will have 2 separate battery systems, 1 is used to power the BLDC and another 1 is to powering in-house electrical appliances. During an emergency, both batteries can be combined to produce enough electricity to operate the BLDC.
As for the monitoring system, this boat will be equipped with Android tablet and GPS. All the movement can be recorded and monitored online. This will hugely benefit the government in monitoring fishing activities and rescue missions in case of an accident.

SEROJA is designed for Zone A fisherman in Malaysia and perfectly fitted for on-the-water leisure. The flat deck at the back is design to offer more flexibility for fishing and leisure activities. Wide hull makes it easy to get in and out.
The hull has been developed to provide the most stable platform possible to increase the comfort and safety on board. The electric propulsion combine with waterjet system ensures joyful sails without a loud motor running and the smell of gas while sailing.
